A couple of years ago, my sister-in-law, Cyndi, and I went to Shelley Titley's “QUILT WALK ON 284” (a quilt show just outside Airdrie). We were at the Purple Katz booth and we saw one of Terry Rowland's Colourwash quilts. Cyndi asked "Can you make a quilt like that for me?" I told her she should make it, but she insisted I do it.
I worked on it from time to time making my 4" squares (3.5" finished).
I started making squares and had about 350 done and I thought to myself, I bet I could get this done in time for our upcoming trip to Ontario in February (I'll save on shipping!). So, I asked Cyndi how big she wanted the quilt exactly and she said kingsize! So I just had to whip up another 600+ squares! No problem.
So, next step. Trying to arrange the blocks. It was pretty challenging because my design wall is only 96" X 96" and this quilt was huge! This is the top third on the wall!
Even quilting it was challenge. My longarm is set up at 10' and it barely fit. I quilted it in one day and flew to Ontario the next day.
So, we got to Ontario and I added the binding. It was a little difficult (yes that's a dog!) but I got it done.
Voila! It's done. Luckily I have two tall nephews to hold up this Kingsize quilt!
